Churpi (छुर्पी) is a traditional hard cheese from the Himalaya. It's made by curdling milk, pressing the curd and drying it slowly until it's rock hard. Nepaw makes it for dogs in Nepal.

In American pet stores this kind of chew is usually called a yak chew, a yak cheese chew or a Himalayan dog chew. They all describe the same idea: a hard, long-lasting cheese chew from the Himalaya.

Four things: yak milk, cow milk, lime juice and salt. No preservatives, grain, gluten or artificial additives. It does contain milk.

It depends on your dog. Gentle chewers can make a bar last for days of short sessions; power chewers get through it faster. Picking the right size helps a lot.

Not for puppies under 4 months, and not for dogs with weak or damaged teeth. Churpi is very hard.

Take it away once it's small enough to swallow whole. Soak it in warm water for 5 minutes, microwave 45–60 seconds until it puffs, let it cool, then serve it as a crunchy treat.

Churpi is made from milk, so check with your vet first if your dog has a dairy allergy or a sensitive stomach.

It has a mild cheese smell. Dogs are big fans.

Keep it sealed in a cool, dry place, away from direct sun.
